Civil Engineering Consultants in Sydney
UCE provides civil engineering design for developments across Sydney and NSW — stormwater, drainage, water-sensitive urban design and flood planning that get your site development-ready and keep council approvals moving.
What our civil engineering covers
UCE delivers civil engineering as a fully coordinated package for developers, builders and architects across Sydney and NSW:
- Site stormwater and drainage design to council standard
- Water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) and runoff treatment
- On-site detention (OSD) sized to permissible discharge
- Flood assessment, flood planning levels and mitigation
- Erosion and sediment control planning
- Bulk earthworks and site grading design
- Pavement, driveway and internal road design
- Civil servicing and infrastructure strategy
- Approval-ready civil drawings and reports
- Stormwater modelling in DRAINS and 12d
Civil Engineering you can build from
Civil design is often what stands between a site and its development approval. Councils expect stormwater, on-site detention, water-sensitive urban design and flood planning to be resolved properly before a project moves forward, and getting those elements wrong can stall an application for months. UCE designs site stormwater and drainage to council standards and AS/NZS 3500.3, models it in DRAINS and 12d, and prepares the civil documentation councils expect — coordinated with the building and the other services packages so levels, drainage and services work together rather than clashing on site.
Every package is independently peer-reviewed before it is issued, so your documentation stands up to authority review and tighter tender pricing. We value-engineer feasibility and buildability at concept stage — where the real savings are — and design to the National Construction Code (NCC) and the relevant Australian Standards throughout.
From feasibility and concept design through to construction documentation, tender support and as-built certification, UCE delivers civil engineering as part of a single, coordinated building-services package. Developers, builders and architects across Sydney and NSW work with one accountable engineering team rather than juggling separate consultants for each discipline — which means fewer interfaces, fewer clashes on site, and a smoother path from design through to handover and occupation.
Why choose UCE for civil engineering
Six disciplines under one roof — electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire, civil and ASP Level 3 — means you brief once and we resolve clashes internally, not across a chain of consultants. As accredited ASP Level 3 designers we even take power to site in-house.

What does a civil engineer do for a development?
A civil engineer designs how a site manages water and ground: stormwater and drainage, on-site detention, water-sensitive urban design, flood planning, earthworks and grading, and pavements and driveways — and prepares the civil documentation council needs for approval.
Do you prepare civil documentation for development applications?
Yes. UCE prepares approval-ready civil drawings and reports — stormwater, on-site detention, WSUD, erosion and sediment control and flood assessment — so your application has the civil information council expects.
What is on-site detention (OSD)?
On-site detention temporarily stores stormwater on a site and releases it at a controlled rate, so the development doesn't discharge more runoff than council's permissible limit. UCE sizes OSD systems to meet those requirements.
Which software do you use for stormwater design?
UCE models stormwater and drainage in DRAINS and 12d, and designs to AS/NZS 3500.3 and the relevant council requirements.
Do you coordinate civil design with the building services?
Always. Civil sits alongside our electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire and ASP Level 3 teams, so site levels, drainage and services are resolved internally before documentation is issued.
